What Happens if My Certificate Expires?

All certificates issued by DVLA have an expiry date whereby the registration mark must either be assigned to a vehicle or extended. The expiry date is shown clearly on the certificate so its a good idea to write this down somewhere so that you don’t forget it.

What Happens If The Registration Is Not Extended?

If the registration is not extended, the DVLA have the power to revoke the rights to that plate.  It’s not a good idea to allow a registration to expire as it may become lost for good and no refunds will be paid.

Can You Assist With an Expired Certificate?

If you find yourself in a position where you have an expired certificate, sadly there is very little you can do. The DVLA are very strict on renewing certificates and cannot accept retrospective applications.
